The Indian Pharmaceutical Alliance (IPA), which represents all the domestic pharmaceutical companies, has given a clean chit to Micro Labs. In August, Micro Labs, the makers of Dolo 650 mg, landed in controversy over the alleged distribution of freebies to doctors during the pandemic.

In response to the allegation, The IPA, the largest pharmaceutical lobby group in India, submitted a report to the Department of Pharmaceuticals (DoP) and the National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) resolving the company of any wrongdoing by stating that the company was following the directives as per the Uniform Code of Pharmaceutical Marketing Practices (UCPMP) guidelines.

According to the report issued by the IPA committee in response to the writ petition filed by the Federation of Medical Sales Representatives of India, the expenditure of 1,000 crores by single-brand Dolo 650 on freebies is not correct. They came to this conclusion based on the discussion with the Micro Labs management and supporting documents sent by the CMD of Micro Labs.
